Optional Training Assessment & Certificate

At GIS247 we offer a comprehensive assessment process to support your learning. As not everyone wants to be ‘tested’ on what they learn the GIS247 training course assessment process is entirely optional. The training assessments are free as they are included as part of your GIS247 licence.
If you choose to undertake an assessment you will be given individual feedback on your performance and further guidance. Delegates who pass an assessment are awarded a course certificate.

PDF Assessment
With each training course is an Assessment Document. It is found on the assets bar of each course once you log in. e.g. It is a downloadable, editable PDF allowing you to enter the answers that you have recorded whilst completing each of the course exercises. Once filled in simply email the completed Assessment Document to our training team for it to be individually evaluated.
On obtaining a pass mark of 70% or more you will have passed the assessment and be sent a pass certificate. Passes with distinction are also awarded for very high marks. Each individual is also provided with feedback on their assessment.

Assessment Records
An alternative to individual PDF course assessments is the Assessment Records . This is a single Excel file with an individual worksheet for each separate course. Simply, from your My GIS247 home page, click the Assessment Records icon and download the Excel file for the version of the software you are using. You should complete the Users Details sheet and then complete the answers on the relevant course worksheet. With this Assessment Records method, all your course assessments are in one Excel file that is kept by you.
Once filled in simply email your Assessment Records file to our training team for it to be individually evaluated. Again you will be awarded a certificate according to your pass mark.

This assessment process is an ideal way for you to monitor your progress in using the software and take pride in what you have achieved. Because you prove your proficiency in the software to gain each certificate, it is of much greater value than a standard "attendance" certificate.

AGI Accreditation
Also all our ArcGIS & MapInfo Professional training courses are accredited by the Association for Geographic Information (AGI) and award points towards their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme. The number of CPD points awarded for completing each course is show in each course information box once you log in.

When logged in, your My GIS247 home page automatically records which course sections have been full or part completed. This page provides evidence of course completion so that you can print/record this as part of your CPD record.
The Assessment Records file also records the number of CPD points earned for each completed course.

The record of the course and module sections that you have full or part completed under your My GIS247 home page is really useful to remind where you got to with your training, especially if you have not logged in for a while.

GISCI Accreditation
All ArcGIS & MapInfo Professional training courses are also accredited by the Geographic Information Systems Certification Institute (GISCI) and allow you to earn educational credits towards the education component of their GIS Professional (GISP) status. The number of course points awarded for completing each course is show in each course information box once you log in. The number of Student Activity Hours for each course can be viewed by accessing the Timing information.

When logged in, your My GIS247 home page automatically records which course sections have been full or part completed. This page provides evidence of course completion so that you can print/record this as part of your GISP record.
The Assessment Records file can also be used to record the number of course points earned for each completed course and be used as evidence in your GISP submission/renewal. You may also wish to include copies of the course factsheets to provide evidence of course content.
Modules - In addition to gaining course points for completing full training courses you can also gain points for watching the Mini & Super Modules. The total presenation time of these modules can be used to contribute towards Student Activity Hours, which also qualify for points.
